Dress codes apply ...</title><content type='html'>Is it discrimination, REALLY? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dress codes apply everywhere, and polite society adheres to them as an unspoken rule.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I would no more go out for a fancy dinner in flip flops and my painting clothes than decide to wear my very best dress outside to rake the leaves.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As an all male college (the pros and cons and legal issues of that being an entirely different discussion!) I think it&amp;#39;s entirely appropriate and reasonable for the college to exclude what is typically &amp;quot;female&amp;quot; attire, as well as other clothing that is meant to make a particular value statement.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The policy is not &amp;quot;discrimination&amp;quot; in any way, shape or form against the transgendered or cross-dressing student population.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Women have been allowed to wear pants and flat shoes and carry briefcases for a long time. As a woman.. I have *never* found make up... mandatory. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Neither should the few students protesting the college policy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We&amp;#39;ve come a long way, baby.
