From Lancaster House via Workplace Law Blog:
The [British Columbia] Human Rights Tribunal recently held that McDonald's breached its duty to accommodate when it fired a dedicated 23-year employee who developed a skin condition that prevented her from complying with its hourly hand-washing policy. Given that McDonald's took no steps to accommodate the complainant, and indeed did not even meet with her until the decision to terminate her employment had been made, the Tribunal awarded $25,000 for loss of dignity and self-respect.
