No Charges in Canadian Fetal Homicide

McGill University medical ethicist, Margaret Somerville, comments on Canadian law in connection with the Toronto murder of Aysun Sesen and her seven month old fetus earlier this week:

Canadian law states that "you're not a human being for the law of homicide until you've been delivered from the body of your mother in a living state."

Ms. Sommerville's comments are in this Toronto Star article, which, using the infamous Scott Peterson case as an example, points out the contrast between the law in Canada and the USA on this issue.
