Human Rights legislation both in Ontario and nationally
protects against discrimination in the workplace on various grounds. This
includes age, disability, racial, ethnic, and religious right, sex, gender
identity, sexual orientation, and more.
Your employer is obligated at law to ensure that the
workplace is free from any such discrimination. You can claim compensation that
you have been discriminated against at the Ontario Human Rights tribunal, or in
the case of federally regulated employees at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal
and also at the court. The good news for employees is that you have protection
and you should speak with a lawyer to learn more.
