A Continuing Kowalski Cameo

Perhaps I should feel honoured that for the last two-plus months I have continued to make a cameo appearance in prolific scribe Mitch Kowalski's Twitter avatar.

(And I sort of do - feel honoured, or amused, or whatever...).

Still, I confess that every time I see one of Mr. Kowalski's tweets and the accompanying profile pic, a far different image keeps creeping to mind:

@mekowalskiexposed
"Hello Dum Dum"

Now don't get me wrong - I don't have any problem with this, at all.

I'm not asking for royalties or anything complicated!

The impugned profile photo, by the way (now archived for posterity), was taken at the first LSUC Articling Debate in October, 2012.

Oh, and happy new year.

Avoiding Extinction: The Launch of Mitch Kowalski

Last night, Toronto lawyer and writer Mitch Kowalski formally launched his book, Avoiding Extinction: Reimagining Legal Services for the 21st Century, at a crowded event at Ben McNally Books in downtown Toronto.

In a short talk, he discussed the challenges ahead in what he describes as clearly "the most disruptive time ever in the history of the legal profession."

I will have my thoughts on the book in the next short while.  If you can't wait, see Drew Hasselback's review at Legal Post and Jeffrey Lem's take at Law Times.

The book is already a bestseller at the ABA website.  It's been a while since anything "legal" has created this much buzz.  Online orders can be placed here.

Below is a bit of video of Mitch's remarks at the launch (and please forgive my shaky iPhone handling):
