Dan Fogelberg

I was saddened to read of the passing of Dan Fogelberg, who died Sunday morning after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer.

His website announced the unfortunate news:

Sunday, December 16
Dear friends,Dan left us this morning at 6:00am . He fought a brave battle with cancer and died peacefully at home in Maine with his wife Jean at his side. His strength, dignity, and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of this disease were an inspiration to all who knew him.

My interest in Dan Fogelberg's recordings peaked with 1974's Souvenirs, an early album that predated his rise to platinum record sales and world-wide fame. Produced by Joe Walsh and featuring guest performances from the then-reigning super-elite of California rock, the album was always high on my playlist as the perfect mix of harmony, melody and exceptional songwriting.

Here, then, are a couple of tunes for the road from one of the great gentle-rockers of the 70's and 80's:
